Built From Real Experience

PorchMyPaper wasn't created in a boardroom. It grew from real mornings, real routes, and real operational challenges in the newspaper industry.

In 2010, our founder started delivering newspapers for The News & Observer in Raleigh to earn some extra money. During the interview, the manager asked a simple question:

“Do you have any newspaper delivery experience?” “I've played Paperboy on Nintendo.”

He still got the job. For about a year, he and his wife delivered newspapers together, learning the routes, the deadlines, and the small operational headaches that come with getting a paper on every porch before sunrise.

Eventually his District Manager started an independent distribution company. Knowing the founder also worked as a software engineer, he asked for help automating payroll. One project led to another.

Payroll became customer management. Customer management became routing. Routing became ETL automation. ETL became reporting. Reporting became route optimization. Over time, those tools grew into PorchMyPaper — practical software shaped by the day-to-day realities of print distribution.

Even the name comes from the route. Every carrier knows the customers who want their paper porched — not in the driveway, not in the bushes, right on the porch. "Porch my paper" is what they ask for. We named the software after the promise.
